• Glossator "Glossator is a program to make it easier to read Latin. From top to bottom, the interface consists of a menu bar, a main text window, and a gloss window. The menu bar lets you load a file into the main text window, copy, cut, and paste. The main text window holds the text with which you're working and lets you edit it. When your mouse passes over a word in the main text window, Glossator automatically looks it up and displays possible forms (an example of a form is 'verb indicative active present 3rd person singular') and a brief definition or definitions in the gloss window." 'readme' provides instructions on how you can add more verbs of your own (simply following the format in 'latin.dat')" (V. Lan)
• Lingua Latina: program for Latin grammar drill "Lingua Latina is a free program which drills users on the basics of Latin grammar. It requires Windows 3.1 or higher. Unfortunately, there is no Mac or Lynux version of Lingua Latina, but if someone would like to adapt the program for one of these platforms, contact me for a copy of the source code. Lingua Latina, at its best, helps users memorize the key forms and endings, but it would be very difficult to learn Latin with this program alone. You'd know lots of endings, but very little about what they do. Thus, I'd suggest using the program along with a good introductory grammar book." (B. Hasenfratz)
• Orbilius "Orbilius is an interactive vocabulary and verb program designed to be used with Gavin Betts, Teach Yourself Latin Units 1-16. It facilitates the repetition that has long been known to be essential for language-learning." (C. Pavur, Saint Louis University).
• QuickLatin. A Latin Translation Assistant "QuickLatin is a translation assistant, not a translator. Proper machine translation would require very much more intelligence than a mere computer program can possess. It is purely a dumb robot. It gets all the possible matches for a Latin word from its dictionary, and then strings some sort of meaning together. Then it's up to you. You type your text into one window, it runs Words and displays output in another. It isn't intended yet for massive files, so you have to cut and paste into and out of it." (R. Pearse)
• Software for Latin Teachers - For Macintosh computers only "Roman Calendar, with only half a dozen keystrokes by the user, will automatically produce an 8.5" by 11" wall calendar for any month of any year. [...] With Vinco Bingo your own list of words (e.g., vocabulary, grammatical forms, cultural items, etc.) can be automatically made into sets of 'bingo' cards in the language of your choice. (L. Curran)
• Traduci! 3.0 "E' un gioco di prontezza e di conoscenza del lessico latino. Appaiono un vocabolo latino e dodici caselle con altrettante proposte di traduzione. [...] It consists of a database (Main Dictionary) and a database application (Abbreviationes) a mature, robust, and reliable program, suitable for everyone from the novice to the expert. An electronic dictionary is immeasurably more effective than a printed dictionary in terms of speed and efficiency. Furthermore, this database currently contains more than 60,000 entries, which is about four times as many as you can find in all the printed dictionaries compiled by Walther, Chassant, De la Braña, Cappelli, and Pelzer combined." • Classical Font: A Font Package for Latinists "Because there has been no high-quality, inexpensive typeface designed specifically for the needs of Latin teachers and scholars, CAES (Classical Association of the Empire State) decided to sponsor the production of this package. It contains GaramondLatin, a professionally produced typeface that provides macrons, brevia, apices/stress marks, common inscriptional characters, characters for printing scanned poetry, and a few medieval and religious symbols." (D. Perry)
• Jack's Scribal and Epigraphic Fonts "These are font sets that I have constructed myself. This font is a modification of the standard Arial TrueType font which provides the ability to put macrons and breves on vowels, as well as providing characters for doing Latin numerals rather more easily (i.e. numerals with an overscore and the backwards C). Being a TrueType font, it should work on both Mac and PC systems (although I'm not able to test things on a Mac) and you should be able to use it in any program where you can select the font." (D.
